New Venture from Horsham Matters Tackles Isolation and Food Poverty

This month sees another exciting project launched by Horsham Matters; the charity that helps support those in hardship across the Horsham district.
In a joint initiative with St Andrews Church, the charity will be running a weekly community café, aimed at reducing isolation and food poverty.

Subsidised hot and cold meals, snacks and drinks will be on offer to everyone, with customers asked to pay if they can. Supporters can also ‘pay it forward’ by donating the cost of a meal to those in financial hardship.

The lunchtime café will operate at St Andrews Church in Roffey from 11:30am to 1:30pm every Tuesday.

As well as providing food and company, the project will offer customers access to advice and guidance on debt, budgeting, and benefits through the Horsham Matters’ team of specialists. Representatives from adult education provider Aspire Sussex Ltd, will also be on hand to offer guidance on courses available.

Horsham Matters is looking for volunteers to help run the new community initiative. If you would like to get involved, particularly if you are a chef or cook, please email info@horsham-matters.org.uk.

Sign up for a Charity Golf Day!

Fancy a round of golf for a good cause? Horsham Matters’ charity golf day takes place on Friday June 10 at Slinfold Golf & Country Club, open to teams of four.

The course is set in 165 acres of woodland and mature parkland, offering slick greens, lush fairways and well-maintained teeing areas. The course also benefits from a naturally forgiving topography, making it an easy walk and manageable without the need for a golf buggy.

The 18-hole tournament costs £60 per person to enter, including breakfast and post-golf lunch and prizegiving ceremony. To take part, please email fundraising@horsham-matters.org.uk.

If you’re a local business looking for sponsorship opportunities, please contact the fundraising team for more information.

This year has all been about getting back to normal – and that is indeed the case for the Probus Club of Horsham Arun. Nearly 40 Club members and guests met in September for their annual BBQ at the White Horse pub in Maplehurst on a day of mixed sunshine and showers. And the Club well and truly lived up to the saying.
