New festive ice rink skates into Horsham town centre

Visitors to Horsham are in for an exciting treat as the newest addition to the town, an indoor ice-skating rink, is set to open on Wednesday 1st December – just in time for the Christmas period!

The Rec Rink at The Rec in Albion Way is nestled on the edge of Horsham Park, and this will be the first time that the town has had dedicated indoor skating for the public. The opening will see the venue dressed in a Christmas theme to get the whole family into the festive spirit. Being indoor, the weather won’t stop play, but keep an eye on the forecast as The Rec Rink will make it snow inside.

By day, The Rec Rink will offer public ice-skating for the whole family and, as the sun goes down, the fun just continues with feature events such as Ice Clubs at weekends, DJ nights and Thursday student nights. There will also be instructor run rookie hockey and ice club events which will hopefully uncover future Olympic ice skaters.

For those who need a calmer experience, quiet skating sessions will be held on Monday and Tuesday mornings. Most importantly, The Rec Rink will have a sensory room for people with additional needs who may wish to take time out.

Once people have skated there will be an opportunity to warm your cockles at the onsite café where a full festive menu will be on offer, including the signature warm beverage – the Ultimate Hot Chocolate.

A spokesperson from the Rec Rink commented, “We are absolutely delighted to be opening the doors in the run up to Christmas. The festive period is so magical, and we wanted to offer something extra special to help people get in the spirit. You don’t even need to be a good skater to have fun as the rink is designed and staffed to accommodate all abilities.

“Our team has been working so hard to get this open and we are grateful for all the support we have received to date. We would like to thank everyone that has been to, or worked at, the rec centre over the past 30+ years and we are excited to be able to bring new entertainment for the Horsham and surrounding communities. We are looking forward to welcoming everyone to our truly inclusive ice-skating rink.”
